I’m not kidding around no more. I’m jumpin back into literacy-math-academics-vocational education-mentoring–my way of practicalizing equality and ending inequality. Equal opportunity. Level the playing field. Period. Keep an eye on my signs and progress.
In 2017, I self-published Stories from the Stoop, seven true-life adventure stories about growing up in the Bronx in the 1960s. The book highlights a time of racial tension, gangs and crime on the streets as well as chaos in my home. My goal was to tell these stories through the eyes of a boy with honesty, warmth, humor, and an abiding spirit of hope.
If there’s anything I like better than writing my stories, it’s sharing them with audiences of all ages, from incarcerated youth to senior citizens. As an educator and activist, it is a privilege to witness the magic and the power of people reflecting on their own life stories and then sharing their stories with others. I love helping people to not only tell their story, but love their story.
